If you're in the Northeastern IL region, I figured I'd recommend "Paws for Applause." Kathy's an all breed groomer, years of experience, and best of all, she's a GSD enthusiast and long-time owner

may I ask what you have done for your GSD at the groomers?
Is it just a wash and go type deal with maybe paw trims? Or something more extensive?
Do you show your dogs?
I'm only asking because I foolishly thought it would be okay to take my pup to a local petsmart groomers for a professional job...... (lets just say the end result was not what I expected) And thus I'm wondering what more experienced groomers typically do for the breed.

I am a retired pro groomer--25 yrs.--and yes I show my girl. I do nothing more than routine--no trimming on anything--nails, ears, teeth and I brush her coat out really well. When she sheds I blow her out with a force dryer. Nothing else is needed. JMO and it has always worked for me and my customers.
