I think its  awesome to utilize the little dogs abilities.....Makes sense to me that she would be a great asset to any Dept's SAR unit...Because of her size she can fit into many smaller spaces the big guys can't....

I give major props to her handler, Chis are not always easy to train! Quite a few are more civil than most GSDs.

would love for someone to take one of my schipperke pups into SAR or detection work, they are like little 8-10 lb malinios.
Haven't had a litter in 3 yrs, but plan on one sometime next year or maybe 2012, would be more than happy to just give one to a SAR handler who would actually work/certify the little guy! close relatives are doing very well in agility and conformation, and they are DNA'd/clear by parentage for MSP111B

That's why Beagles are regularily used in Airports for searching bags and such... they can hike up the baggage track and go thru the hold very quickly, and most people in the airports aren't afraid of them as they're such waggy licky lil guys.

There's a chihuahua used stateside for searching automobiles for drugs. The little girl can wriggle into spaces, and causes less damage, than a full-sized dog. Her name's Midge. I think it's a pretty nifty idea.
