Hi all, my 5.5 month old GSD puppy has retained her lower right canine puppy tooth. It has been almost three weeks since her last tooth fell out (aside from this one). I've given her everything I can think of to chew, played tug with her, and tried wiggling it myself. It's slightly loose but not enough for me to pull safely. THe adult tooth has erupted and is about halfway in. Unfortunately this means the adult tooth is growing into the roof of her mout, I can see the indentation in her soft palate. I'm going to take her to a dog dentist for a consultation later this week, but I was wondering if anyone has expereinced this and what happened with your dog? Anybody had the dentist pull the puppy tooth? Anybody had to have repair work done to fix the adult tooth's growth? Any other advice I can try before I make it to the dentist??? Please help!! Suggestions welcome!

normally if the puppy tooth is not coming out and it is causing displacement of the adult tooth, it just needs to be pulled - then the adult tooth will most likely slide into correct placement. best not to wait too long to remove it though.

Best to have it pulled by your vet. I never went to a dentist (specialist). I've had it done a couple of times, just to be on the safe side that it doesn't make the adult bite wonky.
