i have brought my female to the male 3 times now, and there still hasn't been a tie....my female will let the male start, and they're fine for about a minute, then she moves away and starts to play...can anyone explain to me why my female isn't cooperating?...she's definitely ready because she even backs up to him.

Have you done progesterone tests?  possibly she is not ready,  I have females that will do that from day 1 in season.

Test her progesterone levels at your vet. She sound like she is not ready. What day is she?
Some bitches will back up like that for a week or more before they are ready.

no i haven't had that test on her...i'm new to this and i was just expecting for it to be much simpler...she's about day 15 now...i brought her to the male on day 9, day 13, and today...day 9 she wasn't ready at all...day 13 was just like today....the owners of the male are bringing him to us tomorrow so we'll see if anything happens then...are there any other tests that i should have done if this isn't successful tomorrow?...also, this is her first time...could that be a reason why she's moving away?

Take them both to your vet. Test progesterone. If she is ready see if the vet can do an assisted breeding or live AI. If you are new, and your dogs are new, you risk injury to your dogs, much bigger issue than missing a breeding.

edit: I have had dogs ready as late as 19 days.

Perhaps your problem is the male.

the male isn't new to this...just my female...and i guess we'll just have to try again tomorrow and see what happens...thanks for the advice!

Find someone experienced at mating dogs and get some assistance.

Good chance she is out now most will breed  between 10 to 14th day some will breed later but they are few,is she still bleeding? Is her vulva shrinking? I would have done a artifical on day 12 or 13,they are not that hard to do,they have kits for that,it so important to get the first day right of seeing the first blood to know where you are at, and a good male knows when her peak time is

I've had females "take" on as late as the 25th day!
Progesterone testing is the only way you will know.
