Phil Behun

by Phil Behun on 10 November 2010 - 16:11

I received a message from a friend this morning that Sherri was found dead in her home by the local police department and some friends.  She was to watch some dogs for another friend while he and his family were out of town but did not answer when he arrived.  Sherri was very active with DVG and had won the Midwest KG Regional and competed at the DVG Meisterschaft with AJ Bogenstadt.  Sherri was good dog people and will be sorely missed in the working dog world.  Always smiling and without a course word to say, she was always willing to help when and where needed.  Sherri joins her daughter who tragically lost her life in an auto accident several months ago in the hills of Pennsylvania.  My prayers are with you old friend, be at peace with AJ and your family.

My condolences to her family and friends.  Very sad when tragic news such like this happen so suddenly, and then to be discovered days later.  Bless.

How sad.  I worked with Sherri a few times and was in awe of her wealth of knowledge and patience in training.  I am sure that her loss will be felt deeply by the entire GSD community.

Phil,
Thanks for posting. I couldn't bring myself to do so earlier.
Having been on the phone with the person who was to have dropped his dogs off at her house last night, I was quite worried that she did not answer her phones or answer her door. We had hoped she was out with a friend or busy helping others organize their trial this weekend. It was truly sad to get the news this morning that Sherri is indeed gone.
For those that did not know Sherri, she was the friendliest, most helpful and caring person that you could ever encounter in life. Sherri was always willing to share her vast knowledge of training dogs, but, was humble in doing so, and, she never stopped learning herself. Just being around her instantly brought your mood up a notch or two. Sherri always had a smile on her face, was always laughing and brought a warmth to your heart that few people could.
Sherri, what I will miss the most about you is your wonderful hugs accompanied by your wonderful smile!!!
Heaven is a better place today!
We will look after your new puppy.
R.I.P.
