We took our Jabina Falco daughter, Lisa to have fun in the water...After the initial shock, I managed to snap a few pics of her diving into the water......It wasn't a mistake as she kept doing it, time after time.......I have never seen a dog dive the way this girl was doing.....Has anyone else seen a dog repeatedly dive this way?

Wow!!  I thought my guy loved diving, but his is nothing like hers.  She dives like a person, head first! .

I've never seen a dog willing to get the ears submerged like that. Does she retrieve things from the bottom?

wow, I have never seen a GSD dive like that!  Mine will stick his head underwater, (even his ears), to retrieve something, but just barely submerged and  for a nanosecond, nothing like your dog!!  And I thought mine was a water hound - compared to yours he's a landlubber.

She does dive kinda normal sometimes, but the majority of the time, its head first...... We panicked the first couple of times she drove head first, but than realized that is just her technique of diving.....Just have to make sure its really deep where she dives.....Once she gets back on the land, she goes right back to the wharf to jump off again....

We had a spring fed pond with crystal clear water and a Dobe who would dive for fish. He would also try to dive after you, when you had SCUBA on.

Another Dobe we had would launch off of the dock like a Golden. So much fun to play ball with!

Sueincc,
There are times when she goes fully submerged underwater we actually pull her up in fear she won't come up.....LOL.....Thats why we have the leash on her....I am sure she will come up on her own, but it is frightening....We are getting use to it now, but we still keep the leash on her.....If she sees the toy sink, she will dive head first.  If she sees it before it sinks, she will dive almost normal....We keep a string on the toy, because its a toy that will sink after a certain amount of time....We got that toy from a trainer that uses it to start basic training on cadaver dogs... here is one of the almost normal dive.....

I've seen labs retrieve going headfirst and underwater, but never a GSD!
