I just added my female to the pedigree database however there isn't any information on her ancestry. How do I find the other dogs listed on her pedigree?

That information has to come from you. Once you start adding the ancestors, some will start to fill in. Before you start, search for any dogs in the pedigree to see which ones are already in the database, it'll save you time.

Thank you Gsd, I just figured it out, lol. Basically I have the AKC pedigree in front of me and I'm having to register each dog. I've already done my searches and none of them are listed. This particular female is an American bred Shepherd, with basically no name dogs in her pedigree, but she's a beautiful GSD.

I've been entering some of my Lancashire Heeler's pedigree info in the database. I have found it is easies to quick register each dog starting from the farthest back in the pedigree I can go. This way when you enter a new dog, when you tell it the parents of that particular dog it is already in the db. I have entered about 30 dogs into the site so far, whew.

That's great BoCRon, I'm sure it saves a lot of time and aggravation.

I will definitely use the Quick register next pedigree, my way took about an hour. It's a shame I can't get any pictures of the ancestry. But thanks for the help.

Joe, you can ask on here if anyone is familiar with dogs in your pedigree. If you come to a dead end, ask if anyone knows that particular dog or kennel. If they do, they're usually willing to help fill in some empty spots. Good luck.

Joe, do a google search on the dog's names, as well as the kennel names. You never know what might turn up!
My bitch is a cross between German and American lines, and I had a heck of a time completing her pedigree too, as the pedigrees here are mostly German, and her dam's line was not well known. But with a bit of persistence, I finally got all 7 generations completed, and even went beyond that!
The database will not find the dog for you unless the spelling is 100% correct. That includes dashes and other punctuation like apostrophes.
The AKC website wil provide you with registration numbers for free, if you have the correct name.
You can get research pedigrees off their website too, for a fee, if you hit a dead end.
And, as has been suggested, members are also a good resource, though some may not be willing to confess they were ever involved with the American line dogs...
