Does anyone have an idea how to get Cherry snowcone coloring out of a dogs coat?  A month ago my daughters "shared" their cherry snowcone with my dog and she sat in it.  I  thought that it would come out by now, but it is still there.  I am trying to take her to a show next week, but am really worried about the stain.  I need to get it out as people may think I have tried to alter her color.  Any suggestions?  Could I just explain to the judge that it is only a stain from the snowcone?  I have found that at a show it doens't matter why something is what it is, just that it is.
Thanks,
W

IIt wouldn't hurt to try an enzymatic cleanser like simple solution.  Dilute it somewhat and make sure you rinse it out well.  I have no idea if it'll work, but it's worth a shot and is not harmful.

From the book, "How to Clean Everything", by Alma Chestnut Moore:

This is classified as a Non-Greasy Stain. In the advent this dye was not treated immediately with cold water, and the stain remains, she says you will have to use bleach.

You can try using cool water to soak and work liquid detergent into it, and rinse. Final sponging with alcohol removes the detergent and dries faster. She says if the detergent method does not remove the stain, you will have to try a bleach.

How to do it on your dog...?  I have no advice, but try to treat only the hair and not the skin, it would be done very carefully.

On second thought, I do have an idea, get some of those foils from your hairdresser, perhaps?

I would never apply bleach or hairdressing chemicals  to a dog.  Way too harsh for the dog's skin.

I'd start with a small application of Dawn dish detergent diluted in warm water, and see if that worked without irritating the dog.  Use a white facecloth to wash with; that way you'll be able to see if it's coming off.

Don, that is what the foils are for, you've never had highlights!

LOL!  Well, it is true that I've never dyed my hair.

Still, I'd start out with something mild like dish detergent.

That is what is recommended.

Peroxide the kind you clean your kitchen with will take most all stains out of a carpet so try it on the dog...Peroxide will not hurt thedog and you can rinse well after 10 mins .

also someone last night told me that PAM the spray we use in our pans  will remove stains...

how funny

I use toothpaste to clean my diamonds and peroxide also...try toothpaste

Yes, I was thinking about peroxide myself, but Red DYE #5 sounds like it could be tough....
