I can't figure out how to post the x-rays but suffice to say Echo's hips will not pass OFA.
I am crushed but I'm not surprised. Naturally, AFTER we bought Echo, we discovered the breeder of Echo's sire & dam is a woman who is reputed to breed bad hips. We had looked at her dogs years ago and didn't like the way they moved but that was 10 years before Echo and I had forgotten her kennel's name. Had I recognized it in the paperwork when we looked at this litter, we would have walked away.
The vet said that one hip might pass as fair but the other is mildly dysplastic, the sockets are shallow and the femur heads are rough. We see no reason to send the x-rays to OFA. It is obvious they will not pass. The vet said she should live a long, pain free life and to continue with our training.
So, the next thing on our agenda is spaying. She is such an incredible dog it's a shame she won't be passing along her genes.
If anyone on this site has a dog with NOBLECROFT bloodlines and hasn't x-rayed your dog, best get it done. Probably not a good idea to breed one of her dogs anyway from what I personally have discovered and what reputable vets have had to say about her dogs.
I wish I had taken advantage of the PDB and all the wisdom here before I got Echo, but live and learn. Next time the odds will be in my favor thanks to all the good advice I have gleaned from these posts. I know there is no guarantee that even with the best blood lines you won't find dysplasia. Our old girl had a beautiful pedigree and she had a horrible hip. But, the odds will be stacked in my favor next time.
Sigh...

Well, no big loss. You can still train and the dog will live pain free life. Even if she had OFA good hips, would you still want to breed with what you know of your lines?

There were some decent dogs in her pedigree and some good hip scores but too many holes or should I say too many dogs with no scores shown. And no one has done anything with the dogs in recent generations. I had a check list that she had to meet before considering it so even if her hips had been excellent she may have failed somewhere else. It wouldn't bother me so much if she wasn't such an amazing dog. I had high hopes for her and would have considered breeding her so I could have a pup out of her for myself but I wouldn't even have done that unless I had buyers lined up for a litter. So, it's not like I had planned on breeding her all along. It's just now, it's not even an option and I hate that the option has been taken away. Just feeling sorry for myself. Thanks for the reality check, Don.

Deb, I bought a pup with an excellent pedigree, and several generations of good hips, and she scored dysplastic in the one hip. It's mild, and it's subluxation only, so she should live a long, healthy, pain-free life. But my god, it sure was a kick in the gut when I found out!
So sorry it happened to you, too.

I am so sorry to hear about your girl's hip status, she is adorable and will live without pain and that is a good thing after all, life doesn't give you all you wish for, even when you do all that should be done, correct result is not for granted. God bless your soul and may you and yours live a happy long life and enjoy every bit of it.

Debi before you finalize your dogs sterilization perhaps you should allow suffecient time for her to develope sexually! for what it's worth I have heard from many sources that spaying a immature female is detrimental to the development of the dog! Or seek some professional advice about the consequences of sterilization as opposed to allow her to fully mature? Just a thought and sorry for the bad news about the hips!

Do yourself a favour and send to plates away for scoring, ihave been told on different occasions that hips were poor by a vet, both came back with scores within the range ,

Debi sorry to hear the bad news. She should be able to live a pain free life until she gets older.
I would go ahead and send the xrays to OFA especially if he has a kennel name. Only to help others not make the same decision you made. IMO
