Guess I have sat too long too quiet within this sport and would now like to ask how everyone else feels about the USCA awarding the 2007 Sieger Show to OG Wesconn again?

It has the appearance of impropriety. I was told that other bids were not accepted due to a deadline. However, I checked the USA website and could not find anything on the bid form about a deadline. Dont hold your breath waiting for answer from the national breed warden.

I do believe impropriety is a KIND word.
I would hope that USA shows some $$$ profit numbers to the membership to show what a success the 2006 show was and how much $$$ actually was donated by this club to the Nationals.
It is very "convenient" for a kennel loosing ground in the sport to host the Sieger Show and suddenly come back in the top of the game.
And didn't the NBW have pups from breedings from the VA males (before they went VA)?

Keep in mind the kennel you refer to is a business. There was a long thread on Kraftwerk K9 which is another kennel that is just a source of income for its owner. The GSD comes second with these people, the money comes first.

Were any other clubs willing to host the show? what kind of commitment needs to be made financially from the host club? If no one was willing to step forward we should be willing to thank OG WESCONN for stepping to the plate. if the bid was closed then that is another matter. does anyone have the facts!

Michael10 brings up pertinent questions. I hate to see it hosted again in the same place. But if other regions will not volunteer, then we have little choice. I am not sure that any bids were received.
The host club must be big enough to host it, have access to a large enough venue and with all the work that must be done, have adequate numbers of people to help or get others in their region to assist. There is a financial committment always. And from what I personally observed at the 2005 SS in Carson City, far too many people did not pick up after their dog and the place was one carpet of feces (at a high school no less!)
My club has considered placing a bid, but despite the fact that we have experience hosting shows, my large property and facility is a boarding kennel as well. Therefore, I would not allow dogs on the property who were not current on vaccinations. I have already been told repeatedly about how stupid this requirement is. It is the requirement for our club events and even for my personal friends who have dogs. I know many people in this region who do not vaccinate and that is their choice, but I have a duty first and foremost to adhere to state rules as well as practice a standard of care for the kennel industry.
Bottom line, hosting such an event is not something every club can do, even if they want to do it.
As well, we are a small club and one of the few who care about such events in our region. Even though there are other clubs who might like the region to do it, we all live so far away from each other that it would be tough to pull everyone together, politics aside.
If the location is the same as before, I know it will be impossible for many of us to attend.

No offense, but why wouldn't other regions volunteer? If USCA is paying the bill, why wouldn't any other club want to host the Sieger Show? Could someone tell me exactly what is involved financially from the club level?

Michael10,
My information is second hand. I was told that other bids were received but there was a deadline. Like I said, its not on the bid form. It would also be nice to see what the results are for the vote on judges in the Sieger Show for next year. Even the BAC members couldnt get that information from the NBW. I hope this isn't a trend for the futture with the USA

All year anyone could have bidded on the 2007 Sieger Show, NO ONE DID!, Deadline came and gone. O.G. Wesconn bidded on it and got it.
Sorry folks no conspiracy Theory, No Spooky legends, just no one bidded on it. The end!
