what is your opinion of Royal Canin German Shepherd being the best for an adult GSD?

by The Gooner on 19 May 2006 - 22:05

I feed DUCK, it's a barf diet. I believe barf is the only way to go Chris

I feed Royal Canin to 23 permanent residents of my kennel and all boarders and have for several years. The dogs do very well on it and like it so much that it can also be used as a treat in training or tracking bait. In cases where a given dog has a pancreatic problem, it can be too rich. I then switch that dog to the Royal Canin Maxi Light variety. It is a high quality kibble but it is not cheap.

I feed four (4) bitches and one (1) dog the Royal Canin Maxi 24. They all make firm stools and have nice coats. I have used this food for nearly five (5) years. I also use the kibble as a treat during training. I know there are other good nutrition sources, but I have good luck with this food Bob-O

I feed Royal Canin GS formula 24 to my dogs. I also use it as tracking bait. I supplement with "Olewo carrot pellets" and one "Pet-Tab Plus" per day. My crew is doing fine. Stephen

I second everything said on this board with the GSD Maxi 24 formula. I had a bitch with some skin allergy problems, and have been feeding the food for a few years now and her coat/skin is at the best its ever been (She's 8 now). I also feed it to my other GSDs and they are doing great on it. My lab is also on the lab formula and he seem sto be doing well. It has less calories/kibble, so this chow hound can eat a lot but not get fat. I like the food, and the dogs seem to be doing great on it, I have no complaints. Best of luck.

I use it for my three dogs. One pig and two picky eaters, they love it. They are in great shape and have beautiful coats. No complaints here. Royal Canin is also an excellent supporter for many dog sports including SchH, I am happy to spend the extra few bucks to support them as well.

I feed German Sheherd junior 30 to 4 of my young ones(since Oct 2005) and German shepherd 24 to the older ones since about two years now and also no complaints here.

Zida, Where are you located? I have seen that formula in Germany, but cannot find it in my area of the USA.
