Without giving names, how many people have been ripped off when purchasing a puppy or dog?

I don't know that I've ever been ripped off exactly but have certainly had some misunderstandings about expectations and whatnot.

2 thank you. The first one we did get the dog back, eventually and the second got his :) and the dog got a wonderful working home.

I have never been ripped off by a buyer.....But I have been ripped off twice. Once by an import I purchased about 24yrs ago and again with a puppy purchased earlier this yr that ended up with HD.

Maybe "being ripped off by a buyer" was not the exact correct use of words....I think what Melba meant was, if anyone has ever been taken, lied or mislead by a buyer.....

No, I meant ripped off, like for $2000.

Without going into a big long story, it is a class H Felony in NC for obtaining property by false pretenses :) The sale of a green police dog to a Sgt. in TX. The dog's new handler is very nice and we are in contact frequently.

I have not been ripped off buying dogs, but dogs were stolen from me by two different partners for a loss in 6 figures.. Solution: sue for your losses and do not get into dogs if you can't house them, keep them and train dogs. Fortunately, stem cell infusion will allow me to shortly.

yes, i have been taken 2 times , one was in another country and never did get the dog or the money back and another was here in the USA was a deposit money they said they would return after i waited for two litters, never got that either. never did hear back either, and i also brought a pup once which was a total lie about what i was getting. from an ILL breeder.
i know there are good breeders , but i have not found them.
so i dont trust any breeder anymore, i will keep my own from now on.
