I found the maximum age is 6yrs. So does that mean they can do the AD up until their 7th birthday? Just want to make sure. Thanks

No, it means that at age 6 years and older, the dog does NOT have to complete the AD to do other things like breed survey.

thanks for your reply. Okay, so they are exempt from having to do the AD for their breed survey, NOT that they can't get their breed survey if they don't get it in time. AND are they not allowed after 6yrs old or they just don't have to, but I can if I want to. Sorry for all the specifics, my boy turns 6 in July and I just want to make sure we don't miss the boat if we don't get it done at the next trial. I'd like to practice more and do it in the fall. Thank you, Melanie

If the dog is over 6yrs old, it does not have to have an AD in order to do its Körung. You can still do it, however it is not required once the dog is that age or older.

To clarify GSDfan, Once your dog has met all the other requirements for a breed survey, and once the dog has already turned 6 years of age, it is not necessary for it to complete an AD to participate in the breed survey. Personally, if I did not have to do the AD, I would not, because I always have to hire someone to do it for me (bad knees). And for a dog who is 6, even one in superb shape, why push him to do that. Keeping him fit is one thing, but the AD is physically demanding and I would rather save that dog energy for training and fun.

Thanks everyone, got it. Andy is in excellent physical condition, I don't forsee him having a problem. But if it seems to be too much when we are training for it, I won't have any problems not doing it. I would like to see him get the AD at 6yrs old, I think it would be a testament to his health and vitality. Thanks, Melanie
