the more you give in to a finiky eater the worse the problems grows. when feed the dog leave food down for five to ten minutes then take it away give nothing till its time to eat again and repeat dog will not starve itself and will learn to eat what is put down when it is put down. i personally do not worry about putting weight on a dog so young. the leaner the better of course without starving I am just saying lean is good a working weight.

Gretchen, How often does she exercise? Often several good walks per day and training will have them eating in no time. Also check medically re parasites, etc. just to be sure. I feed raw and also, at times, supplement w/satin balls but have not in 8mo old. Good Luck

Feeding the satin balls, with the addition of Baked red diced potatoes, pumpkin and yogurt seems to have helped my girls. They have really begun to look much better, not fat.

Solid Gold makes a canned food called Green Tripe. Just a tablespoon mixed in with the dry has never failed when I have a picky dog. As stated above, don't give in. and leave food down 10-15 minutes, then pick it up.

Obviously, you check the medical end first but if all else looks ok, you may want to consider she just doesn't like her food.....try something different???
How long have you had her and has she always been like this? Sometimes even a little bit of yogurt in the food will help and it's good for them too!
I do like to see pups with healthy appetites!

you may want to try another food. My finicky eater likes Royal Canin.

Newbie is right, do not ever encourage a finicky eater by sitching food and adding goodies to the kibble. Dogs do not need a variety in their diet nor do they need tempting gravies and other additions. All brand name dog foods are well balanced, nothing more is needed.
Do as Newbie said, let the food sit for only a short time. If not eaten, put it away til the next feeding. No treats, nada in between. Your dog will act like she's starving to death begging for just one little milk bone pretty please, but do not let her win. No healthy dog will ever starve itself to death. It's a battle of the wills; you must stand your ground and win the war LOL. Blitz has gone for 4,5 days without eating and has not died from it. He learned his lesson and now eats like there is no tomorrow. He knows that the mean mommie will not give in and he will be a hungry boy if he doesn't eat what's put before him.

Feed your dog good raw meat. I bet she won't turn it down. Maybe play with it for a few minutes but she'll eat it once she tastes it.
I have a couple 8 month olds who are on a raw diet,if you are interested email me and I'll give you instructions on how to feed her.

Ive had her since she was 12 weeks old. Her mother is imported from slavakia. Her mom is a Nico vom lehnhof daughter. Sometimes she has a good appetite but other she wont eat at all! it just confuses me. All the other pups in the litter that I have seen all have great appetites. Its just so confusing.
