 Hi,
       my 8 year old GSD finds it difficult to climb the steps his back legs are  not as  sturdy as before .while climbing steps he finds it extreamly difficult .It would be of great help if u could suggest me some treatment.

Have you had him evaluated by a vet?  It could be a number of things such as HD, arthritis, injury, etc.  How long has it been going on?  The treatment would depend on the reason he's having problems, so it's kind of hard to say without more information.

Arthritis and/or HD is likely in an 8 year old dog. Schedule an appointment with your vet. There are a number of products designed to help keep these guys more comfortable. My personal favorite is Metacam.

Could also be Degenerative Myelopathy; definitely have your dog evaluated by a vet for the correct course of treatment.

I agree with the other posters, there's a lot of things it could be.  In order to figure out the best course of treatment, first the dog needs to be diagnosed.  If it were my dog, I'd take him to the vet.

 Hi,
      Thanks for replying . i have shown him to our regular vet and he said its osto artheriathis degenration of hip bone which is common to GSD due to there huge built. HE HAS GIVEN US SOME DROPS TO BE ADDED INTO HIS FOOD THREE DROPS PER MEAL.The  NAME IS Meloxicam oral suspension BP.Will i have to continue this for a long period or few months is enough.
