Check out this link: http://www.heathermillsmccartney.com/dogcatfur_downloads.php Ordinarily, I hate the activism and lunatic fringe of PETA. They have been known to let dogs out of crates at dog shows. In the early 90's, they are credited with having burned a newly constructed veterinary diagnostic laboratory building at UC-Davis. They are definitely opposed to the breeding of purbred dogs. Louise

I'm not PETA or any of those orgs but I cant stand it when I see people wearing fur coats. Animals should never be killed for their fur and fur only. anybody thinking about getting a fur coat, shoes, etc should sit down and watch some of theses graphical Peta videos of how theses butchers skins theses poor animals alive. (they die from shock)

Is the Humane Society International the same as PETA? You wonder what happens to all those puppies that are made in China. . . And even if the expensive dog purchased from abroad does not end in such a fate, what of the many beautiful puppies? In the late 90's there were so many Chinese representatives purchasing dogs out of Germany. It was easy to say that they would not be eaten because of their price. Who would eat a DM (at that time it was the Deutsche Mark) for 25,000? I always thought to myself, but what about the progeny? There must be GSD farms by now. They certainly have an excellent coat. And their meat should be regal.

Hi, I find it so sad that people would kill just for fur. I understand if they need to kill for food and do so humanly like people have been doing for hundreds of years but not to waist a life simply because it has a beautiful coat that is just plane crule.

A few months ago Larry King interviewed someone about this topic. Sorry, I've forgetton who it was. Anyway, they showed films of a GSD being skinned alive for their pelts. GSD's are one of the most popluar dogs for skinning for their pelts. This happens in Asia and Europe. Cats are also popular for their skins. Since then I have tried to not purchase anything made in certain Asian countries that may contain fur of any sort. It is used as a garment lining as well as trim and don't forget that those cute little Boyd's Bears are no longer made here in PA. The local humane society was calling for a boycott of all goods from China until the government there put a stop to this wholesale killing of dogs and cats for their fur. Yes, there are dog farms that raise dogs specifically to be killed for their fur. They are located in the mountainous areas where it is cold and the fur will grow the longest and thickest. BTW there is no law that prohibits these people from calling the fur exotic names like Asian Wild Wolf; if the garment doesn't say it contains dog fur, it still may. I haven't yet looked at the film Louise has referred to. The site of that shivering GSD being skinned alive was enough to last my for the rest of my life. I still have nightmares. He looked a lot like my Blitz.

I have read your messages and it makes me so sad that people are so cruel and have this sickness in their brain to do this to animals let alone GSDS I wish I was really rich to stop some of this cruelty happining. Unfortunatley I am to weak to watch any pictures or videos of this nature because it would kill me as I am a normal loving person. Are these people not normal ??? Are they sick in the head well sorry I think they are and it would help if they did'nt have lots of children so then they would'nt do this for money to pay for their families. This is just like the Foriegn bird film I watched on tele where catch the birds with clue on wire for money - its sick why don't they go to there local leisure centre and go and play squash or something and get their anger out or something or use condoms ...... sunshine, Rich people with no brains would pay that much for a very nice meal. Blitzen, Wow even reading the graphical detail is strong enough that you’ve actually have images! I don’t know how theses people who are doing theses kind of things could actually sleep! As far as I can see it anybody that could do such thing to an innocent animal would have no problem killing a human child or killing a human. Theses people have a dead conscience. The best thing that we can do as far as breeders and consumers is to not buy anything from Asia, china and rest of the countries who does this crap.

I abhor killing animals for reasons other than for food (your own food or your pet dog food) The Asians do not kill these animals for fun, they kill them to meet the demands in Europe and America. The most effective way to stop these killings is to ban sales of fur in Europe and America, as evidenced by ivory trade. No doubt that there will always be some illegal killings, but it will still save thousands of animals. Laris

The imortation of garments containing fur from pet animals is already banned in the US. The Asian countries know that so they do not represent this fur as coming from dogs and cats; instead they called it exotic names in order to pass importation laws coming into the US. We do not permit any garments containing dog or cat fur to enter this country intended for sale on the open market. The garments containing dog and cat fur are being sold in the US illegally now. The government of China (and other countries that participate in the disgrace) look the other way and have no laws governing how animals are killed in their countries or any regulations regarding truth in labeling those garments. The killing and skinning of pet animals for their fur is a big business in these countries where human right are non-existent. They don't care about their people, why would they care about animals? Trade sanctions are the only answer. Money talks. There are far more humane ways to skin animals than slitting an artery and skinning them while they go into shock due to blood loss. It might not be done "for fun" but I still have to ask what sort of people do things like that?

"The best thing that we can do as far as breeders and consumers is to not buy anything from Asia, china and rest of the countries who does this crap." ****************************************************** Sorry, the solution appears to be not to SELL dogs to countries known to have puppy farms and to slaughter animals for the fur trade. For example, some of the dogs (whose breeding value in Europe has greatly diminished) are SOLD to China for substantial sums. So what if they are sold to caring, responsible people? IMO, no Asian breeder can guarantee that the many offspring from these dogs imported to China are sold to equally responsible, loving, permanent homes. Surely, some of these innocent canine souls must invariably become fodder for the murderous, greedy, inhumane fur trading industry. The burden is on those who SELL dogs to countries involved in the fur trade, IMO
