Just curious how many here would consider showing a showline GSD dog under a judge that owns, breeds, trains, sells very nice WORKINGLINE and working GSD dogs.  I would like to get show ratings on two of my dogs both of which are showlines, one will be pregnant at show, I am a NOVICE, and it will be a very long trip.  Oh, lol, and I have no handler.  I just want to know if it is worth the trip, as I am not really experienced and one of my dogs is preggers (do you do bitework at club level conformation shows?)  She got good bite, but I don't want to hurt the pregnancy.
Anyway the judge is Johannes Grewe and it looks like he breeds really nice hands on working dogs in CA.

Please feel free to email me at appaloosahorses@gmail.com
OR PM me.

Any guidence here would be absolutely fantastic.

Thanks,

I showed my West German line female under Johannes Grewe last month as well as doing a BH and an AD. There's a difference between a judge who personally deals exclusively in working lines and a judge who personally deals exclusively with working lines and lets that introduce a bias against show lines.
As far as I can tell, Johannes doesn't seem to have such a bias. He will put a show line ahead of a working line if that show line is of better conformation, which is how it should be. Johannes, as far as my experiences go, won't hold being a novice against you. The Midwest Regional show in September was my first real trial and my first show outside of AKC and UKC, so I was fairly nervous and didn't really know what to do. The club and Johannes did a nice job of making things really comfortable for novice and veteran alike.

Showing under him, at least for this novice, was definitely a pleasure.

He is a very fair judge. No bitework required. (only at sieger shows in the working class) Good luck.

I wouldn't worry overmuch...Grewe initially bred and showed WG highlines here in the US, under the kennel name of Vom Sunland, so it's doubtful he'd be biased against them.

Johannes is a wonderful judge, he will tell you if you are doing something wrong, but in a  nice way. if the dog is good in conformation you will place good. he is a good honest judge, i did show under him for my first time and was very comfortable, being new to the show ring. the only time you would need to bite would be for a KKL in a local show. just make sure you  bath the dog and its not fat as he will tell you, i had to laugh at some of the people there , some were very fat. the pups you only have to walk around but the ones over 12months you will need to run with them too. i would not show your female if she is too big.

Johannes is a very fair judge.  He has judged many show dog shows and last years sieger show.  I personally know that he likes big headed masculine male.  You will have no problem,
