What is a good wormer for a litters first worming. I've heard Safeguard and Pyrantel Pamoate

What do you prefer and what would the dosage be?

i use pyrantel for the first 3 wormings.  if you suspect something other than roundworms, talk to your vet.

Panacur and Safeguard are the same.  I however use Pyrantel Paomate for the first 2 or 3 wormings

We use Pyrantel for the first 3 (2,3 & 5wks)
Panacur for 6 & 8 wks.....it's just our own protocol.

I prefer to let my vet examine my puppies before filling them full of something they may not need.

Take a composite fecal sample and have your vet see what the pups have.  Then they will help you decide what is best for your kennel.

My Vet recommends Strongid (pyrantel) at 2 weeks and Strongid/Panacur together at 4 and 6 weeks.

I know where to get the Safeguard, but the only thing I've seen pyrantel in around here is D-Worm tablets.  Is there a liquid and where would I get it?
Thank you everyone for the input!
