Xray is not this blurry. I tried to take a picture as the sun was going down and I will post another with better light tomorrow.
Female, 3.5 years old.
You tell me what you think, then I'll tell you what the vet said and what I think as well as about the dog. I am very interested in what you all may say :)

Our right side of the screen: The left hip is not seated in the socket very well with some remodeling on the femur head I would say mild to moderate HD; The right hip (our left side of screen) looks fair.

Hello Melissa,
Your picture is not good, but the Xray as well. If you want a right opinion, you shoudl do it again. Your dog isn´t in a good position.
Regards,
Dimas.

Picture is flipped so that our right is her right.
Thank you so far.....
Jenni78, care to comment??
Thank you,
Melissa
PS, probably sending to SV, so opinions on what you think they would grade is also welcome

I'm looking forward to seeing your new picture of it tomorrow. How's that for a pleasant way to say "that picture sucks" ? LOL
From what I can see....one looks peachy....fair or good. One looks maybe not so peachy, but I hate my monitor and keep having to tilt it back and forth to make any sense at all of that photo. It's not that the xray is not quite straight, which it isn't, but I can look past that. Legs need to be pulled down straighter and knees turned slightly...I think that would "clean up" our right side and give a more accurate view of the actual congruency between sides.
Are the sections of light in the photo only or on the xray as well? I'm having a hard time discerning possible inflammation from light. I know a lot of it is my crappy monitor on my laptop. Sorry.

There is not enough detail to determine whether any remodelling is happening. The positioning is not very good, and yes, the socket conformation could be better. Provided there are no arthritic nodes or true remodelling characteristics, I would judge these as O.F.A. "Fair" or S.V. "a" fast Normal.
Who knows; with better positioning these might squeak by as O.F.A. "Good" or S.V. "a' Normal. Personally I d not think they will, but I have been wrong a time or two.
Good Luck!

I would not have been offended at all if you would have said the picture sucked. LOL
The lighting was awful and I believe the light spots are the scenery in the back ground. Ugh.
I'll post a better one tomorrow. I was just being my good old impatient self.

If the legs and knees were positioned identically, I think you might have a good chance of a passing grade, depending on the alignment of the stars over OFA. SV might go A2...the right side (of the picture) looks funky somehow in the socket...but I still think I can make out enough femoral head in the socket to think that if positioned a little better, you might be ok. I'd like to see the original. Too bad all vets don't use digital. Easier to look at and less radiation for the dog.

Well, this is what my vet said. He thinks the right side ( our right) has been injured at some point. He said it may OFA and it may not. It will depend on the moods of the vets at OFA and if they've had a bad day or not. He told me he palpated her and the hips are tight in the sockets. He could not get them to subluxate on palpation. He told me I should consider PennHip, he couldn't do them but he could refer me to a vet that could.
This is what I know about her : She is extremely high drive and she works every day. We do agility, tracking and detection. She is 62lbs, always kept lean as working dogs should be and I have had siblings xrayed for prelims with very nice hips. She is on a partial raw diet ( raw in the AM and kibble in the PM) and has been on Nupro Silver.
I'm not sure what they will be graded. Another dog's xrays were sent in 6 months or so ago and received an OFA Good after the vet said Fair and most board members said borderline/fair/positioning sucks. So, I will definitely update when results are received.
My old vet down in FL did digitals though she was inexperienced with OFA and never had a decently positioned xray for me. I think vets should have more training in certain areas, especially xray positioning and nutrition.
