Gage is 16 weeks old. At what age can he start schutzhund training? I know he will have to be evaluated. It seems like a really fun sport to do with a dog. So any advise would be great. thanks

I would start tracking now. You can do some rag/tug play and build drive. Just be careful of teething. You can start getting the pup to drive you for food. Just remember to let it be a pup. Socialization should have been and should be the major focus. I'd find a club and take the pup. Let him see as much as possible.

Thanks Don, he loves tug and he is in basic Obedience classes now and yeterday we went to agility fun day. So he is getting a lot of Socialization. Like I said in my op it seems like fun and I was just looking on the internet and found a club about 20 min. from us. I am so excited, we are really having so much fun with this pup. really hard to believe he is a rescue pup. Well whoever turned him in was their loss and our gain . thanks again for your advise

You start training the day you get the pup,everything you do is training shaping behaviors and setting boundaries Just make sure everything is positive at this age. Have fun...

Right now for Socialization petsmart. once a week at our home we use susan ( not sure I can use her last name) Thanks again Bob for your in put. We are having fun with him and i think he is coming along just fine. So I am going to check out the sport of schutzhund ,I just was not too sure about age. thanks
