Very attractive GSD.  What's not to like. Great male type, dark eye, great head, correct back, good croup, good tailset, nice feet, nice pigment, very good angles at both ends.  He may be a little cowhocked, but that should clear up with maturity (don't overwork him until he is older-about 1.5 years old).  If the dog turns out to Xray with clean joints, has good health, good dentition, good temperament and good movement (which he looks like he is built for), I'd expect the dog to easily koerklass at K1 and go V in the SV showring stateside.  I think you acqired a very valuable winner if he vets out okay and cleans up going away.  Congratulations.  I hope you enjoy him every single day.  If for some reason he doesn't go top V and I'd be surprised (for some small rerason), in any event you have a great looking GSD. He appears to look confident and sound so I'd expect his temperament to be good.

Congratulations Ruger1, I wish a dog of mine one day will receive such a praise from Preston, I envy you my friend, keep your dog safe and enjoy him.

 What's not to like.

How about that the dog is aggressive (even towards children) and dangerously unstable?

by matthews3662 on 13 October 2010 - 12:10

He's cute and the pics with the kids, are so sweet.
(I don't understand FH trackers comment??)

But, he is nice, looks like an Albert son?  He has a handsome head.

by FHTracker on 13 October 2010 - 12:10

Look up Ruger's other posts Matthew, she's had problems with this dog since he was 4 weeks old.  He's fear aggressive to anyone who is not his immediate family and has been kicked out of at least one training facility for his aggression issues.

Some of the threads.

Thread 1

Thread 2

Those are a couple of the recent ones.

Sorry but it doesn't matter how handsome a dog is if he's mentally unsound.  This habit of pretty show dogs getting away with unsound behavior because they look good and people look the other way is doing as much damage to the GSD breed as backyard breeders.

Oh and the picture with her son?  Ask her about the time she was so proud when the *only* thing Ruger did was raise his hackles and posture at the 3 year old child of a friend.

Maybe my standards are too high but an 8 month old puppy showing hostile aggression to a young child is just a big red warning flag to me.

He's like his father who went crazy at the sieger show!!

I don't recall Deanna asking for a temperamental evaluation in this thread. Nor do I recall where she said she's breeding him next week.

FWIW, even based on her other posts, I'm not at all convinced this dog is "dangerously unstable."  Perhaps he is aggressive...so what. Deanna needs to learn to be a better handler then. But I can't sit and judge a dog I have never met and I don't believe anyone else should, either.

by FHTracker on 13 October 2010 - 12:10

Mad,

Exactly!  Genetically, mentally unsound.

by FHTracker on 13 October 2010 - 13:10

No Jenni, she wants pats and kudos about her dog after spending months on here bemoaning about his temperment issues.

She can't have it both ways.

This dog is a prime example of bad breeding practices by a big breeder and I'm not going to stand by and be all "Oh but he's so pretty, it doesn't matter that she can't take him out in public."

That attitude is what helps get GSDs on 'dangerous dog' lists.
