"A team of researchers at Michigan State University has discovered a group of illnesses reported in dogs across the country is linked to a specific brand of dog food from the Blue Buffalo Co.
Veterinarians from across the country recently began sending samples from dogs with elevated levels of calcium in their blood to MSU’s Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health, director Carole Bolin said. The sick dogs had increased thirst and urination, and some of them also suffered weight loss, loss of appetite and signs of kidney damage."

Wonder if it is made by the same plant as IAMS, which was recalled recently .

IAMS/Eukanuba was recalled recently for a possible salmonella contamination. Totally different reason for recall. I doubt that it is made at the same plant.

Thanx for the update I feed my dogs Blue Buffalo but not the ones that are being recalled but still puts a nasty taste in my mouth. No pun intended. I feed raw at nite and Blue in the morning. Think it is time to go 100% raw. My last kibble was involved in the big recalls a few years ago and that was very streesful. You research and try to feed good food and junk like this happens.

And on top of everything on the 1st link the Blue buffalo people say they recognized the error when in fact it was caught by vets doing research on illness'. I understand errors happen but to be dishonest is pretty shady.

I guess this voluntary recall is not a ringing endorsement
of quality control. Looks like I will try a new brand.
