Interesting video of the changes in structure made to the GSD in 110 years:

Thought the GSD folks on this board who have not seen this might be interested.

Interesting........  Love so of those old style dogs.  The structure took a dramatic change the last "few" years.

Well done my friend. Thank You!.  OMG the GSD used to be a Mali, LOL.  Everything was status quo up until 1985.
Interesting how LE has gone to Mali's and can't find enough good GSD's.  But the GSD was originally built like a Mali is today.

Great video, although I would have like to see some working line dogs mixed in with the show dogs over the last 2-3 decades. They deserve a place in the evolution of the breed as well.

KCzaja,

I believe these were all pictures of dogs on the Historical VA list.  To me, that is part of what makes it so interesting.  Many of the "old" Bunde Sieger's look much like todays "working lines".  One of my personal favorites is 1946   VA Volker vom Sonnenstein  www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/pedigree/2127.html

The dogs were bred to be heaver for the wars, when they changed from herding dogs to police and border patrol dogs. Interesting how words of the breed survey can be interperated differently through the generations. They sure did change in the past 30 years! Wonder what they will be like in the next 30?
