PA K9

by PA K9 on 07 October 2010 - 03:10

Hi Everybody,

After lurking on PDB for YEARS, I have finally decided to join the board since 1.) the drama has dramatically decreased and, more importantly, 2.) I have finally accomplished something training-wise that is actually worthy of sharing (!)

This slide show is from a police K-9 certification trial in Pennsylvania this past spring. My dog and I passed both obedience and protection, so it was definitely a major accomplishment for us. I train and compete as a civilian with this organization, so he is not an actual street dog. I have done some Schutzhund as well, but I would NOT consider myself a super high level handler who has gone to regional or national events putting multiple titles on multiple dogs or anything like that. Many of the people that I train with, though, have.

I feel like I know most of you--but you, of course, don't know me. In a nutshell, I would describe myself as being closest to Slamdunc (Jim) and GSDfan (Melanie) but, again, not near the level of experience. I also agree with 4pack, Sueinc, and Kyle Jackson's posts--and many others too many to list. I do tend to be much more open toward non-working dog people than some on the board, however. I'm willing to have a rational conversation with anyone who loves the breed, no matter what you do with your dog.

Hope you guys all enjoy this. Here's link:

Thanks for all of the knowledge you shared--I look forward to being a member on this board.

Welcome to the membership, Scott!  It has definitely gotten better around here of late, and I hope it is going to stay that way.  There is still plenty of drama, but it is not nearly the way it was a while back.

Crys--thank you for your warm welcome.  I didn't think anyone would reply that fast.

Jim--I am honored that you have even acknowledged me (well, at least this quickly).  I'll save all further praise for a pm.  Very happy to see that you are still around.

Yellow Rose--I have been reading your posts as well for quite some time and also was caught off guard as well by your quick repsonse since you are a true legend of the board LOL!  And being a Philadelphia Eagles fan, you totally cracked me up mentioning the Dallas Cowboys.  All I can say is, we in Philadelphia actually don't have much of a problem with Cowboys fans from Texas--that makes sense--it's all those people that grew up around here who root for the Cowboys that we hate--but that's another topic!
