fostering puppies - Page 1

I was just talking to a fellow breeder and the topic of fostering puppies came up. I know of very successful arrangements for the fostering of brood bitches, but have never really thought of a puppy foster program. Has anyone had any experience with this and what were the arrangements? I have never done this and had no advice or comments to give. Thought this would be the place to ask.

I am in the middle of fostering a puppy right now. Puppy is about 10 weeks. He is a schutzhund prospect puppy and is just waiting for the right home. The arrangements are simple: I get to hang out and enjoy a puppy while treating it like I would my own. This means, potty training, and crate training..and maybe even some puppy obedience or tracking. In a few weeks, hopefully the puppy has a home, and the owner is already ahead of the game- getting a puppy with some extra bonuses.

I understand what the foster parent would be doing. I was wondering what type of agreement would be in place. I would not expect a foster parent to get nothing. Their time and effort has value as well.
