Molly: WOW, WOW, WOW. What a spectacular photo album of the colt. I wasn't sure did you deide to keep him? I surely would although I do know you cannot keep everything you breed; horses and dogs. Thank you so much for sharing. Nanci

Not keeping him - if I were still involved in training, competing and showing horses then I probably would - but I'm not - I have a Quarter Horse I enjoy trail riding when I have time, and this colt's mother is my wonder-mare I can ride her too. This colt is not old enough to break though as you can see he's getting the foundation training I used to do myself, but no longer have time to do. He'll come home next month and "sit out" the winter, probably will have him gelded, and then in the spring hopefully sold.

He's been for sale as a stallion for 2 years now - and the only people who might have been interested in him as a stallion are breeders - there is probably one breeder to every <many> people looking for a riding horse - and the people looking for a riding/competition horse are not looking for stallions. Stallions are difficult to keep, many places will not train/board/keep them - can't keep them with other horses, can't keep them in many types of fencing, some people don't want to handle them at all even if their temperament is super, like Deko's is. In fact I have a place to keep him, but it would be so much easier if he could be turned out with his mother and my gelding. He'll be happier as a gelding, and will sell easier as a gelding. No reason to keep him as a stallion really though I had hoped someone would want him for a competition stallion - but that goes back to finding a breeder looking for a young stallion prospect. They are few and far between (read: nonexistant) as I've found out by trying to sell him as a stallion for the past two years. So, many reasons to geld him and not many to keep him intact.

Molly,
Thanks for the education. I thought it probably had something to do with being difficult to keep. His muscling is so gorgeous though! Will he loose that if gelded?

What breed is he?

He's a beautiful mover, Molly but I have to admit I like the head on your 2010 colt better. Also not a big fan of the wall eye, did he get that from his dam or the sire line?
