Its pretty quiet. They made it pretty political by only allowing 4 breeds to compete for titles.

The AKC interested in Biting sports is a joke I still have the letter sent out years ago by the AKC admonishing biting sports. The work it,s self isn,t the joke it,s AKC trying to capitalize for the money... It,s no different then the GSDCA having a intrest in the working dog.

If that was how it was initiated, I would agree with you but AKC wasn't the driving factor behind the effort. In fact, the people who initiated the conversation were people with decades of experience in schutzhund who were also long term members of both UScA and the WDA. The goal was to eventually have the AKC recognize working titles of some kind and include them on AKC pedigrees.

Not all Schutzhund enthusiasts cared to have there titles listed on the AKC paper work most that I know and have heard even discuss it could of cared less it was more the show line folks who found it all a fancy. AKC,s only intrest for this was the fee to have it on there. If i,m that intreted in your scores or titles I,ll ask to see the score book and not get all swoony because AKC prints it on the toilet tissue.

"effective January 1, 2007 with regulations to be approved by the AKC Board. The breeds approved to compete in AKC®'s newest sport are the Bouvier des Flandres, Doberman Pinscher, German Shepherd Dog, and the Rottweiler."
Why not the Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, Giant /standard Schnauzer (sp), Giant / standard poodles and american bull dog just to name a few. Why not allow all breeds?
Problem is akc has promoted the watering down of the working ability of all working breeds that none of them can complete the tasks for which they were originally bred. AKC also does not follow FCI standards for dogs but makes up their own standard.
Who in the akc can make this work if none of the upper management participates, competes or understands the value of the sport. Or a at least what the orignal value of the sport was prior to being watered down today. But that's another topic.
