My opinion is that you should pass either SV or OFA. The right Hip looks a bit less in the socket but should still go Good or Fair at its worse.

I concur with K-9 mom.

I don't know how strict they will grade so here is my opinion:  I would like to see both sockets a little bit tighter;  there is a slight area of flatteing or remodeling on the left hip and the right could be a little deeper set in the socket.  I hope you get a good but possibly will get a fair.  Best of luck  Nanci

PS:  I do not grade elbows, no experience.  Nanci

Thanks for your opinions.  I didn't know what to think of the left hip being a little flat.  I personally have never seen that before.  The vet left by the time they brought my dog out and I sure wasn't happy about that.  Now I have to wait 4 weeks for the official results.

jayjay:  I would not worry most of them don't like to speculate anyway;  but usually when you see flattening on the femur head the dog is a jumper; straight up and down.  That can flatten those heads.  Kind of weird that only one shows flattening??  Not sure about that.  Whatever it ends up, good luck  Nanci

Everyone should look up "unilateral hip dysplasia". Not saying this dog is dysplastic at all; I'm just saying that anyone who thinks they know enough to unofficially grade hips needs to read about why a left hip is often different/worse than a right.

Id Say OFA Good and if the evaluator had argument with his wife then OFA Fair.

I stress that I am not making any money on this book . (About $4 and change). Thus hopefully it will not be considered an advertisemant but and advice to buy this book on HD :

Very interesting article Jenni78.  Thanks for postinging it.  I always wondered why our old girl, Airin had one perfect hip and one horrible hip, no doubt to an injury of some kind.  I wish someone could post a comparison of bad hips vs good hips and even more so one of bad vs good elbows.  Something to further our education.
