I would like to know your opinion about GSD in agility.
SV supports it but I think it looks weird and rather unhealthy for some, especially for longer backs and extreme angulated show lines - weaving through poles. What do you think?
Who has experience with GSD's in agility?
Thanks!

I don't think GSDs who can't do agility should exist. How's that for a straight answer? LOL

I sold one for agility just a few months ago, and another lady I know does agility w/hers.

When I visited Vom Banach Kennels in Washington, I saw Pharaoh's father flying through the agility course they had set up..  He was amazing and he just loved it.  He is a big muscular dog but very fast, agile and flexible.  Seeing him fly through the tunnel was quite a sight.

Pharaoh is also large and athletic.  Once I am settled, I will look into local agility training.

VM,
My two Girls( Malinois)..like the roller ball death game and play it
every day....they love it. I keep a suture kit near by but rarely have to
use it....The game involves dashing, jumping and
competing. Most of the jumps are less than 7 ft.
They are very healthy and tired afterwards...10 acres.
My babies!!!......Hay bales, old trucks, some farm equipment
ton of scrap metal, and wooden beams.... Dogie paradise.

Phil I know I know!

I know someone who does really well with her GSD in agility.  She is one of the top 25 GSDs in AKC agility this year I believe.  Here is a recent youtube video of one of their runs:

I like Jenni's response:
"I don't think GSDs who can't do agility should exist. How's that for a straight answer? LOL"

I do agility with all of my GSDs.  Here is a picture of Izzy with her agility ribbons and we're nowhere near done competeing!

Agility is just plain fun, it's a great activity to do with your GSD, regardless of whether the dog is show line or working line or whatever lines.
