My girl, Lexi is almost two. I got her when she was about four and half months old. I notcied she was a really skinny puppy then but the vet told me that it was normal for a gsd and i shouldnt worry till she is older. I feed her twice a day a mixture of wet and dry food and i also let her have some scraps. I have a pic of Lexi when she was about six  months and a pic of her that i took a few months ago (she hasnt changed much when it comes to her weight.  As you can see in both pics she seems really slim). Any advice?

She looks fine to me....what do you think is wrong with the weight?

I've always thought she seems too slim and even when i've been out walking with her and people have commented that she is too skinny. The vet did say if your not use to a young gsd you might think their under-fed dogs but i just wanted to make sure that i wasnt just taken the vets word for it.

Her hips are really boney esp when you stroke her and her ribs sometimes show. God knows how my photos i have deleted cause she just looks too thin.

Hmmm, I guess I don't see it.  GSDs are supposed to be lean and have a visible "tuck".  On some dogs, a healthy well conditioned body even shows a little rib.  My experience has been that when my vet says my dog is on the lean side, he's perfect.  I generally rely on other factors such as is the dog active?  Eyes clear?  Ears clean? Coat shiny, healthy, and not smelly?  Is the dog athletic and well muscled?

If the vet says she's fine, she's fine. This may sound stoic, but you'll only be disappointed worrying about size and weight. Just let her grow naturally. I've seen dogs fill out up to the age of 6 years.

As far as people commenting that she is too skinny, the average person doesn't really know that dogs, especially the larger breeds, should be kept on the lean side for health purposes. My vet says that most people keep their dogs too fat and he is fanatical about educating them about proper weight. Being fat is as bad for dogs as it is for people.

It is hard to tell for certain, based on the photos, but she really does look fine. If she is as boney as you say, then increase her food a little.
