I wonder as to who are the fantastic dogs trainers who train Walt Disney movies dogs?

Does the company has her own trainers or what?

I have recently seen a movie that I had already seen since approx. 25 years ago, namely "The Doberman Gang" staring by a patch of Doberman dogs that robbed a bank & they were fantastic. I know that it is not a disney one but still I admired so much.

Bill Koehler, and later his son Dick, trained with Disney for many years in the 60's, 70's...
He was an amazing man, with a fine way of imparting technique to the common folk..
I had the great priviledge of meeting and training with Bill and his son Dick many years ago..
His well known books are often misinterpreted.

Rudd Weatherwax is from that era... he owned and trained ALL of the collies in every "Lassie" movie or TV production.. (His family still trains and owns the dogs to this day.)

There are many more.. but those two men come to mind.. especially when referring to Disney.

Doberman Gang RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To add:  The trainer, I believe, was Karl Miller, who has trained/handled many animal actors.  Heres a little thing about him  http://www.americanhumane.org/protecting-animals/programs/no-animals-were-harmed/profiles/karl-miller.html

Kohler also trained the Siamese cats for the movie "That Darned Cat". I was surprised to see that in the credits, as I thought of him as strictly a dog trainer!

And this is the trainer everyone thinks was so heavy-handed? HAH! Just TRY getting bossy with a cat, and see how far you get with training it!

Good eye...

Yes, he did train that cat..his name was Tao, I believe..
Also featured in the original Homeward Bound movie..

And the big Dane in Swiss Family Robinson, also in The Ugly Dachshund..

He was an amazing man.. his son Dick was also.

Bill's books are really entertaining reading...  he always wrote for the worst case pet scenario.

Interesting to note.. clickers, or some varient of them, has been used by movie trainers for years... long before it became fashionable in the competition circles.

That's the easiest way to get an animal to follow the actor thru the shot..  they hold the clicker out of sight.. you can teach almost any animal to follow the guy with the noise.  I recall them being very small and not too loud.
