Is there anyone that is scent training dogs on bed bugs? I am kicking around having one of ours trained.

Are bed bugs the same as cudies?

I have heard of Beagles used in Bed bug sniffing and also http://www.thebedbugdog.net/ and http://www.bedbugdog.com/.

These days Bed bug sniffing has become a good business as bed bugs are on the news regularly. I too would like to train one dog for that.

I saw a news piece on TV, a company had a Beagle trained to hunt for bedbugs in office buildings, etc.

It would be cool to see other breeds doing this valuable service.

I'd be afraid of bringing them home!  I'm sure they'd be comfy in a nice thick coat, so how would you make sure you don't have any hitchhikers?  I'm getting the heebie jeebies just thinking about it!

There was a piece on the news last night about a Jack Russel that searched for bed bugs.  They said that he could find them in 5 minutes compared to hours that a human could find them.

Yes, there are companies training Shepherds to scent on Bed Bugs. Mine is currently being train by Iron Heart High Performance Working Dogs out of Shawnee, Kansas. Here is their link:

I am in California, anyone near here? I know the east coast is having a hell of a time with them. I am looking for GSD trainer, so she can do double duty. My daughter has a dog that  I think would be wonderful for it. Neither of my 2 would be good canidates.

They are traveling everywhere, by rail especially. They aren't just a NYC problem, anymore. I read an OP piece where they were found in VT! Scarey stuff these bedbugs, wish they stayed a bedtime story, for good.
