Hello,
I would like to know how you work with a dog that is handler sensitive. I saw a dog at training once that was very sensitive and did not do well with firm commands. Just curious is that something they can overcome ever overcome or something that will never change??

I don't know that they overcome it, but they get better. Look at the thread on clicker training.

Yes do check out the clicker training thread. One of my previous dogs was extrememely sensitive to any correction besides "no". All her obedience training was on a flat collar, very lose leash, with food and praise. She did wonderful with that method and scored a 198 out of 200 at her one and only OB fun trial.

Ok I will definately check it out, I am curious about clicker training anyway... I have a new pup I would like to attempt clicker training with. That's a pretty good score!! Congrats...

I have retrained a couple of Psds who came from previous handlers who were extremely rough on the obedience. I just try and tell the handlers lavish lots of praise, play with them a lot after obedience is over and easy on the corrections unless it it has to be firm, most have worked out of it.
