Rugers Guru

OK.... I finally got a picture of a natural stack, I know his front legs are too far forward... and he is on a slight slope, but other than that.... I think he has great conformation. I am no expert, he is retired, but I would still like critique (good or bad)

And yes he is wet... LOL

Hi there,

For some reason the photo is showing up blocky.  Like the pixels are too big.

But what I can tell you is he has a nice stack but he is not leveled.  This will "throw" off his stack for a critique.
He could use more bone, as he appears feminine, but it is just a photo.  Never can really tell with a photo.

I like him though.  Very handsome.

Ok, must add.  I just went and looked him up and saw that he is still young.  I'll take back his "need more bone".  He has lots of time to still grow.

I am confused?

If he is young , how is he retired?? Do we have two different dogs here???

Before I make another statement  I  need to know is he young or retired older dog??  Brandi;s remarks confused me.

YR... This is my Ruger.... He has horrible hips. He is just a great stable boy who loves to play with all the neighborhood kids. No more sport for him. But he is a great lake dog. He just turned 3. on the 4th.
I love him regardless.
I do keep him on the thin side to keep him around a tad longer, but I do prefer more bone also.

Okay i SEE NOW...

He is an ok weight for his hips he just is not heavy boned.  I like a bigger head but he has a nice side set and his ears are set good.

If he doesn't show signs of pain, he can last many years as a slimmer body...
Swimming is good exercise for a dog with hip problems.
He sure has a nice profile side ways.

So this is the boy we had our night time discussions about  two years ago... What a coincident..lol

I remember the whole conversation ..Standing at the door of the kitchen  looking at you and you ask  How do I get him to focus on me. And I remember the answer we got....lol  Especially his attitude at that time...   lol
You have certainly come a long way since that conversation...lol

I so remember that conversation! The answer we got was NOT one that worked with him. I taught him his down stay shortly after that. No need to kick him as hard as I can just to keep him out of the kitchen.... LOL. That was an interesting conversation, with an interesting man.
I have learned a boat load since we spoke last and I now have more hands on experience. I am very happy with the results of training, even though I have been thru 2 trainers in 4 years.... I have finally found one I am sticking with.... I love the results I am seeing with the 2 I am still training. I LOVE progress, but most of all I love seeing the dogs so happy doing it.
Thank you for the compliments that he is handsome.

Lets   be sure to make it known  I was not the person who told her to  KICK  the dog out of the Kitchen.

Just remembering a real BLAST  from  the past!

 lol

In all sincerity I was the one that  got the KICK !

Thats right.... YR did not tell me to do that.... Some other person (not to be mentioned)  did. But it was for sure an interesting day. Thanks for all the other helpful info though.
All is well now, except for those darn pesky hips!
