The whole product line is a popular food. The company has recenlty stepped up advertising, as I've seen the ads on TV.

I've heard 1st hand from a couple of people who really like the food. Hopefully any problems are only contained to this one sku of the Wilderness.

Last week I bought a bag of Blue Buffalo Wilderness chicken for my dogs in case they want a snack when I'm not home since I don't want to leave raw meat out, but neither of my dogs would touch it. Almost $60 for 24 pounds and they act like it's the most disgusting stuff they've ever smelled. Well, maybe they are smarter than I am so I'm returning the bag to Petco.

I still want a kibble to have available for snacking but have no idea what to get. I thought I was buying the best with Blue Buffalo. Whatever I buy needs to be grain free. Any suggestions?

Adreva;   I  love the Blue Buffalo and Rito has been eating it for 4 years...He is right here.
I will be the first one to tell you  I do not believe marketing words on bags..It is a ploy to make it look ,and seem all good and nice. But BB I have had not problems with..but never used anything saying Wilderness on it..

The one I use  is good food. it has no wheat, no preservatives. no corn ,no by products , no soy or no artificial flavors and no MEAL   Very hard to find a dog food with no meals.

My dogs all have high food drive but I have seen some refuse the cheaper foods I bought from time to time when money got low here.

I feed the one kind   large breed    and on the bag is says  Healthy and Holistic.....and it is the   ONE I LISTED ABOUT   BUT   FOR LARGE BREED........SAYS  Natural chicken and brown rice Recipe... use date is Sept 22  11

The reason I was not happy with the Heavenly Holistic nurture ws they only made a 15lb bag. cost me an arm and 40 legs to feed 12 dogs. THE new one Lassie is 20lb bag..I bought it mainly for my cocker spaniels.   ratio is 21 protein    fat  12
www.sunshinemills.com   check out the names for your own . I do not like a high protein for old dogs..I feed raw two weeks at the first of every month and then add in the kibble. with olive oil and garlic added..no other suppliments unless dog is pg  then raw liver and cottage cheese and yogurt.  Soaked with hot water , about a 1./2 cup give or take..I do not measure anything precisely..I am a site on site person..if it looks right I do it.

I also use AVODERM

today I bought a bag of another of   one of the Sunshine Mills dog foods   and this on is called LASSIE Natural Way  Adult dog food.    I did notice it has chicken meal  which is why I like Blue Buffalo...this is a rice and oatmeal recipe..

Heavenly Holistic Nurture was the one I used for a while but they quit supplying it . now this one is  Holistic also.

I just tried a bag of it to a dog and I dont like it. It was my usual time to change from raw for a month or so and I wont be feeding or recommending it to anyone. The dogs coat was nice and shiny, soft. Now its dry and he seems to be itching more. For the price Ill go back to Core when my next round of kibble change is here.

When Blue Buffalo first went into PetSmart stores, I worked for them promoting it in the stores.  It was not popular at all, not at first.  People would see the price tag and say "woah!"  But I had different angles that could get anyone to buy anything.  Just tell someone other kibbles may contain feathers, hair, corn cobs, and by-products and that their dog will crap less on this food, and they would usually try it.  When you see corn in the dog foods it's the whole thing, and I tell them it's used as a cheap starch to fatten up livestock.  We would get these guys coming in "What can I feed to bulk up my Pit Bull, I want him to look swoll," Blue Buffalo it is, higher quality proteins.  It's really for everyone, LOL.

It is popular now and expanded, and that's a good thing.  Only thing don't like about the regular food is they put a meat as the first ingredient and it's misleading as to how much meat is in it.  There is not a lot of meat in Blue Buffalo, it's mostly (remember "most" is at least 51%) several kinds of grain.  Because "fresh chicken" is some 60 or 70% water, it will always weigh more than the dry ingredients, thereby putting it first on the list.  They were also sketchy with answers about exactly how their cold-formed "Lifesource Bits" were formed, and if they really were so great.  Is it true, or is it a marketing gimmick, I do not know.  I know it's a better kibble than most, but I still would prefer raw or at least the grain-free Blue Buffalo Wilderness.

I have a few clients who feed Wilderness with great results.  This article is inconclusive.  Thanks for posting.
