Oli:
My black girl I put pic of on the post your Black shepherds, was a girl out of Nick  V Lascher-Haus  of which Apoli and  Ledi Von der Luisenstrasse produced

Nick was bred  to Dtiara vom Geigerhaus out of Vedor vom Fourniermublenbach and  Quanda v  Kirschenschrot with Orthos v Tiekerhook on the bottom of the mother side.

She is all about herding and very super calm temperament but when she goes to work she is drivey and very tough.   She is very tough and very very alert to every squirrel, every wild life anywhere withing a block of my place.

But she is gentle as a lamb to her offspring and to kids and other adults..one fine girl...she is my deer meat lover. I have good friends who bring me plenty of deer meat and I feed my females mostly the deer meat.

I use raw several weeks and then use kibble the later part of the month soaking it before putting down as mine all gulp their food.

I also had a lady at Walmart where I buy raw liver, ask who it was for and  when I told

con't   after my computor went bonkers?:::

you feed a dog raw meat , that blood will make them kill people or other animals.

I had to inform her someone had fed her a real live myth and that was false.

Surely she missunderstood her vet?

Just as a random comment, there's a new virus running amok right now.
Apparently it has brought down some pretty major servers.

You might want to run a virus scan to be sure.

It's all a myth on feeding particular meat =killing.

My dogs would chase and kill (whether accidentally or on purpose in the excitement) any small animal running on the property. It doesn't matter what raw food is fed.

I've never fed them possum (lol)  but we rescued a mother possum from their grips and she escaped up a tree to safety. They nearly killed her. However, she had young babies and we managed to save them before they became live play toys, raised and release them.

Rabbits and squirrels have been too fast, but one patient dog waited over a gopher mole hole and caught one & killed it.  I never had fed him gopher moles previous either. ;-)

Sorry Crys, but I am no longer feeding the Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish to my dogs or the rescues. They changed the formula and my dogs all lost way too much weight and am having trouble getting it back on them, I have switched to the Acana from Orijen for the rescues and Orijen and/or raw for my personal dogs...
I am tired of the companies changing where they make it and not enough quality control....who know what goes into the dog food....???
I am getting another freezer, so I can do more raw...I am after all a great hunter, even without the one eye...  so I will get to hunt for the dog food....raising my own chix now too....have an extra rooster I have my eye on for a dinner for the dogs soon!!!!

Ol Roy or any of the other GRAIN BASED foods are the pits!!!!

Steph, will you clean and de-feather the rooster all of the way? Some raw feeders feed whole chickens and I mean whole. They feed rabbit this way too.

I thought about feeding the dogs old laying hens, but I don't think I could do the butchering part...and deal with all of the feathers to pluck. I guess they have machines you can buy to de-feather them, but...

I will pluck them for the dogs and take out the guts and feed all but the stomach contents...have to split up the chicken to each dog or take one chix and cut off quarters and feed each morning, night they get beef or red meat. I dont' want them to get to any lice in case the chix have them. I dont' think they do but these are this springs pullets I got from a new source, so don't know much about them...could have coccidia, need to doctor their water =before I feed them to the dogs or the eggs for that matter. Have a couple with loose stools...then wait awhile then feed...
I don't mind butchering the meaty leghorns, they are a pain in the a$$, but I do have trouble butchering the laying hens old or not!!!! Sometimes I am glad that the fox got them before I had to do it...the rooster is okay too if it is a mean one, but this one is young yet. My other rooster won't let it in the pen at night, so I had better get it before the fox does....rather save a few bucks for the dogs....lol.

Hey Steph, the gal we got Wolf from (in Idaho) said he was fed raw exclusively, & raw game mostly. He had an awful parasite burden when we got him. Do you have problems with parasites when feeding game, or do you cook it prior to feeding it? Just wondering.....jackie harris
