Ruger1

The next level of our AKC obedience class is starting tomorrow night. I have been working with Prince everyday since class has been on break.  I know that in the past Prince has been reluctant to perform to his full potential during class. I believe it is because he is insecure. He feels the need to look around and make sure everything is, as it should be,,,lol..Have others had this problem? Did your dog grow out of this with time and socialization?

Sounds like you need to reinforce some focus on the handler!

LOOOL....have fun...I am out of here...way too much energy is being spend on insignificant matters of who has how much right to do what....i simply call it idiotism in the making. and they kiss their children with those mouths.. :)

I think I'll do likewise.

We seem to have a sunbreak in all of this rain.
Better get outside with the dog before it starts back up.

Ruger, if he's insecure, he's insecure and you'll have to work on that and the attention. However,  a dog isn't a machine anyway. A dog with the best attention is going to look around some. At least my Working and Herding breeds do and I allow a bit of it, as they were bred to be aware of their surroundings...but they aren't allowed to check out and miss a signal or lose focus on the job at hand.
