Also the officer had his dog on leash, the two dogs started to play, the play got rough, the officer felt the husky was 'attacking' and shot it.

Also, the Officer's dog had no bite marks on it, nor did the Officer. The Husky was a "regular" in the Dog Park -- never any problems before. Very friendly dog / very good w/ kids.
The police originally closed out the case without an investigation. However, an Official of the County heard about it and demanded a full investigation.....this Officer needs to be stripped of his Badge / fired IMO.

Thanks for the follow-up on this tragic event. Obviously the biggest loser in that event was Bear Bear, who lost his life. From what I had previously been able to learn about what actually transpired in the Dog Park that day I thought that the off-duty policeman had made a very bad judgement call when he shot Bear Bear. I do not know how an event like this might affect his career in Law Enforcement but I imagine that it would not be positive. Everybody loses in this situation. Just a reminder to us all to be very clear-headed with firearms. There are no "do-overs" once a firearm is discharged.

PS
I just did a search and came upon a webpage from The Baltimore Sun that has a long series of articles on this story. Since I don't have the computer skills of a five year old you'll just have to cut and paste this URL if you would like to read up on this!
