He was chipped by the breeders vet. I have the pet passport from Germany and the chip number but when I put it in Pet Maxx, It searches several databases and nothing is found. Just emailed the breeder. Want to have his hips done next Fri and need to be sure the chip works. Anyone ever have this issue on a puppy from Germany with this manufacturer?
Thanks,
Paul

Bio tec chips are by Virbac. I believe they require their own transponder (reader).
I don't think the commonly used readers in the States can read them.
You may need to rechip the dog with an International chip. Last I knew, those must be ordered. Or you can buy your vet a Virbac transponder!

The only place I know of in the states with a European chip reader are Banfield hospitals. As far as being in a database, the dog must be enrolled in the system. It is an extra fee on top of the cost of the chip. You may want to consider getting your pup chipped with a stateside microchip like Home Again.

I think I will just rechip since it was evidently never activated.
