Next we'll be hearing that it was PP trained by a Certified Master Trainer from Canada and is valued at $150,000.  Whatever happened to that guys stolen dog?

by jaggirl47 on 27 August 2010 - 14:08

My question is why is this dog on a tie-out and left in the yard?

There are many legitimate reasons a dog could be on a rope in a yard during this picture.  We have no clue how long he is left there or what his everyday life is like.  He does however look clean and quite relaxed in the picture.

Either way his owners miss him so BUMP!

Jag girl - don't dogs poop outside ? You wouldnt want a huge 80 lb GSD pooping in the house right ?? Some people don't have fences, and its not allowed in some area's of this country, and if the dog is put out to poop its safer to tie it than let it roam away and get hit by a car. People also have to work.. to you know .. feed the dog.

Kimmelot,

I understand perfectly well dogs poop outside. I am attempting to teach my 10 week old that. However, when you read the article, he went missing overnight from the backyard. You see in the pic he is on a tie out. Am I wrong to assume a $1500 GSD is left as an outside dog? No, I do not think I am.
I look at Craigslist daily and I keep my eyes open for missing dogs. I always have. However, the dog shouldn't have been left out over night.

The dog is valued at $1,500 dollars, and was taken from 7027 SW Auburn Road during the overnight hours on Friday, August 13th and Saturday, August 14th.

That was taken straight from the article.

As far as work, I work full time. Neither of my GSD's are out when no one is home. Plus, my last home we didn't have a fence. I preferred walking my dogs and taking them to a place down the road with an 8 ft fence to let them run.

The article doesn't really say one way or another that the dog was left in the yard when it was stolen...it could have been in the house for all we know.  We don't know the particulars but I do know the breeder and she frequents this site...dogladyj and she is pretty picky who she sells her dogs to.  I just posted this because there is someone out there with a dog that does not belong to them and the owner is distraught over the loss.  Let's focus on the issue not the whys and what fors, ok?

Please keep your eyes open folks.

I am ultra careful with my dog but there have been times that I have just been lucky that she didn't get away from me...like the time I let her out at 5am to pee in our fenced back yard.  I stepped around the corner only to find one of the gates wide open and no dog.  If I hadn't gone out with her ...no telling where she would have ended up.  As it were, she was just outside the gate sniffing around and came back in when I called her name.  We did not leave that gate open.  It was closed at 10pm the previous night so someone had been in our yard in the overnight hours.  Needless to say those gates now have padlocks on the inside of them.  It's a hassle but worth it.

Stuff happens.

We're only human.

Play nice.

Deb, I wasn't trying to be mean, it was just an observation. I am in Washington, but will keep my eyes open for that area and pass word to some friends down there.

Perhaps it was put out "at night" before brining it in for the night......That could explain the "over night" choice of words....It really doesn't matter not if it was tied out or not. The point is, that someone possibly has this dog and needs to return it......
