OMG!! Sounds like this was an accident waiting to happen. Neighbors claim they were afraid of this dog yet this little girl was allowed to be alone with it unsupervised???

I live in Madison WI and heard this on the news this morning. It's just awful. What I heard was the mom of this child had another child playing at this residence. She went to pick her up from the playdate, went inside leaving the one child outside unattended. Can't imagine.

Let's see, the dog was tethered outside - probably 7/24. From the sounds of it was not properly socialized or trained as the neighbors were scared of it. Then some idiot left her child unsupervised with the dog. Is anyone suprised this occurred? Now the child is dead, the dog will die and what will Mom get?? A slap on the wrist.

Thats so sad, i cant believe this could happen, but then again , how can you really trust a dog, they can turn anytime. i can see a shep doing this but a boxer , i would of never guess, well i guess this shows us all, that any breed can attack.

i am only a few hours from were this happen.

I also live in the area, maybe an hour or so away. I have to agree, why would a mother leave a 4 year old behing even without the dog. Incredibly sad.

Criminally stupid. So, the mom and grandmother(?) were in the house at the time? They didn't hear anything? Were they that much into the Tequila, or meth, or something that they couldn't hear? Guess that couldn't be the case, or there would have been an arrest(?). That child had to have let out at least one good scream. I can't believe a passerby had to alert them to what was happening.

Today's news says no charges will be filed on anyone and they have not decided what will happen to the dog.
