I purchased a dog from this breeder in 2006. I paid $1,500 to he breeder for a "companion puppy". I would NOT recommend this breeder. First of all she sold me a dog that stated on my paperwork .... "testicles not descended - yet" for full price of $1,500.00 .... leading me to believe that they should descend on their own by the time he reaches 1 year of age. At 12 months of age and $578.50 later I had to have the testicles removed. I went to two vets and both said she should have never sold a dog to me in his condition for $1,500 dollars! It is very unlikely for testicles to drop! If I left the testicles in there would be a high probability of cancer.
In March 2009 my dog was diagnosed with idiopathic epilespy (at times he has had up to 20 seizures in one weekend). I sent an e-mail over to the breeder asking if this was present in her line. She never responded. I feel that a good breeder would at least have the courtesy to respond. My dog presently sees a neurologist. His medications and bloodwork run us up to $350 per month. My husband had to take on a second job. I certainly didn't get a quality GSD! I also had his hips x-rayed and the report came back as "fair" at best"!.I am so saddened and disgusted! I looked forward to attending AKC rally competitions and put in almost 2 years of training and spent hundreds in preparing for this. Now my dog lays around drugged up on bromide and phenobarbitol. Our last vet bill (1 weeks ago) of $492.00 the vet now thinks on top of all the other problems he may also have the start of degenerative myelopathy. Quality? My dog is only 4 1/2 years old !. I feel at the very least she could of responded to my e-mail. I wanted to the the right thing and make her aware that one of the dogs she produced was epileptic.
PS Was also wondering if anyone else had a problem with epilepsy from this breeder?

This breeding facility looked clean and well run, but you just never know what you are getting into. I love GSD, but next time I am getting a mixed breed at the pound. Less likely to have these problems!

I would reccomend Kennel Casa Nobili www.casanobili.it

Txgsd, I think getting another dog is not on this persons mind. Also, you would recommend a kennel in one breath, and in the next, you would make a thread asking if anyone has gotten a dog from there before? Why recommend a breeder if you do not know or have not dealt with them personally?

Hellina39, I hate to tell you honey, but that breeder cover their a-- when they stated that the testicles had not descended...In reality, she did sell you a companion pup. Its the price thats crazy....Had she explained anything about the testicles to you at all? Did you ask questions? Seems you were really a novice about the health issues. I am not trying to say its your fault..I just think they saw you coming and took advantage of your lack of trust and knowledge....Its breeders like that which ruin the trust of the novice....I bet you are not the first nor the last novice buyer that has purchased there.....
I am so sorry for you....Good Luck and God Bless you for your devotion to your dog....With all those problems, some would have found it much easier to just give up on the dog..... GOD BLESS YOU!!!!

I have a slight problem with people complaining about having there male dogs testicals cut out when it was a pet in the first place. The fact that the dog was going to have his testicals removed is point #1 as being a pet, and the fact that it cost about the same price for a Spay on a female #2, and that the price of a female vs a Male dog is nearly the same with all breeders regarding pet sales.. I don't think this one issue should be an influance of breeder bashing.
I do feel so very terrible that your dog has sufferred sezures, is it possible that a flea medication or something in your environent could be causing it ? Have you gone threw the process of elemination, including foods , room sprays and sprinkles used often etc. If you do get threw to her is it possible to ask if this is a condition in her lines, if it where I believe she owes you another healther puppy.

Nonacona60..., Thanks..I am trying my best over here. The thought of putting a 4 year old dog down makes me sick. I did ask questions. She led me to believe that they would drop on there own. Plus I was only aware of his condition after I drove 4 hours to pick him up (with my husband and kids in tow). I waited for him close to 6 months. I didn't think it would be a problem. Is this a common problem in GSD? I had never read about it in the GSD books. They also never talked about epilepsy in this breed either. I was so concerned about hips and elbows. My neurologist says most of his epileptic patients are GSD, poodles and labs. Who knew?
I just miss the days of him jogging next to me. He was a great running partner. It is so sad.
PS..Wondering if anyone else had a bad experience with this breeder?
