This is just out of curiosity. Top rated males in Gemrnay must be always overbooked with the appointments of breeding. How do a female owner manage to take appointment? suppose a female is coming in season after 4 months but date of her mating is not fixed until she actually comes in season. Then how a female owner fix appointment with the top dog. One more thing I think there is some rule in Germany by SV about the number of matings a dog can take in a year. I think that is 60 or something that means only 60 females are mated or 20 females app. mated 2 to 3 times. Please throw some light on it. I think by rule as the dog gets older the number of matings are reduced. One must be very lucky to get a appointment to mate VA dog.

I think that is 60 times for females living in Germany and another 30(I think that is the right number) times for females being imported from foreign countries into Germany for breedings. Stephen

The exact rule is: the male is allowed to make 90 breeding a year. In from these 90, 30 breeding at least for outside Germany and maximum 60 for Germany. But the male can make 90 breeding outside Germany in year.

So at the top of the career, they make 60 breeding with the best German females and outside Germany only 30. And when the dog get older, they don't have so much asking from Germany, they take more outside Germany to complete the breeding of the dog to 90 a year.

To the best of my knowledge, a stud has a numerical quota for the number of breedings he is allowed during any given calendar QUARTER.
