Petros

Hello everyone!
I would like to ask for your experience regarding the following:
I have a bitch that is ready to breed based on progesterone testing. The bitch is receptive to the male and the male "says" also that she is ready.
I tried twice BUT what happened was: The male got on her, I helped him find the target. Then he started to oscillate (move back and forth) in order to get penetration. Both times, it looked like he had penetrated all right...Then after 5-10 seconds, he stopped the movement. I thought that thay had stuck together BUT, as soon as the male got down of the female's back, his penis was out and NO sticking...
Do I do something wrong? How could I tackle the situation?

Thanks in advance

Let nature take it's course and don't try to help.

When someone is asking for information and help and you do not know, you simply answer: I don't know

Simple as that!

Everyone knows that in purebreds "nature" never took its course alone...otherwise there would be no breeds :)

Thanks anyway since this is your 2 words of wisdom. However, I have found out that this advise is not the one in the "correct" route...

Anyone else?

Petros, excuse me for trying to help, I've been successful breeder of pure bred dogs for several years and have never had to help with the breeding. Unless you're talking about a breed that can't be naturally bred, you must have a problem with your dogs. I gave you serious advice, if you're so knowledgeable about breeding why ask anyone else.I'll take your advice, I'll not make the mistake of trying to help you in the future, good luck to you.

Probably she is still a little early, or a little late and the male isn't as interested as he should be.  To be safe, take both dogs to a vet and have an AI done, just to be sure she is bred.  Keep trying to breed them naturally too, until she isn't standing/he isn't interested - but do one AI just in case you don't get a tie.

Petros try to mate them again when the male has penetration then go to back of male and hold them togeather wrap your arms round the back legs of the male and female for a couple miniuets it could be that the female is taking a little bit time to swell  to hold the male in the male could be coming of the female to soon if the male is not experenced then this could be the problem good luck

Hi Petros,

Have your bitch checked for a stricture. It sounds like your male is doing things correctly, but is failing to make the tie & instead you are getting an outside tie. If you cannot get her bred naturally due to the stricture (or whatever the problem might be), and everything else with the bitch is properly done (proper age, etc) I would go forward with the artificial insemination. Good luck!

Thank you ALL for your inputs. I will try once more tonight and let you know what happens. So that everyone has a bit on info on that.

Most probably is what "shostring" suggested, they need some time to be held together so that they bond.

Thanks again.

Have either of them bred before? Have you ever bred dogs before? She may have a vaginal obstruction. Have you checked her?

Like Michael tried to explain to you, let them work at it until they get it. If you have no experience yourself I would think the dogs have a better chance to get the tie naturally than you getting in the way!!!

Best Regards,
Dennis

i had a female( first timer) that when i bred her to a proven stud, he did the same thing, he just keep coming out after what we thought was a tie, so we waited a few days and tryed again and guess what it worked , so i  would just give them a little more time. the female may just need more time.
