Not all male dogs life their legs.
Its a highly individual thing.

My male is also 19 months. They can learn it being around other males who do it, some males just don't do it though. My male German Shepherd does not lift.....whereas my male Husky who is a day apart in age from my GSD, does lift his leg. He was however raised with a pack of Huskies. Even my older female Husky occasionally hikes her leg.....she squatts, but hikes her leg at the same time.

i have a 2 year old male that does not lift his leg to pee, i really thing its got to do with if the dog feels he is dominate and need to mark. my male could care less about being dominate.

I have a weird female that lifts her leg to pee.
Very, very rarely in our own yard.
She seems to want to mark over other dogs. Weirdo.

Thanks, I though it could be because he still is not mature mentally.... even though link above says he should.

Could be.
If its really importatnt to you, I second the advice to take him around other male dogs that lift their legs [if you can find a nice neutral male], so he can see it.
Sometimes that makes the difference.

Shtal, maturity can play a part. I had a very dominant male who did not lift his leg until 24 months. He was a tough boy, just not grown up until 2.
We also have a six year old male who never lifts his leg. He is just not very masculine, and my females can be in full standing heat and he shows little to no interest.
Just depends on the dog.
