Hi...new here guys. I have a 9 month old German Shepherd pup (male) named Ares. I am not sure which version of bicolor he would be, especially since his parents were both sable (i think) mom was predominantly tannish and dad had a black saddle. He, however, definitely looks bi-color. Is he? And, if so, what genes did he need to get this way? Oh and ignore the spots on his tail...it's just paint, we were painting a deck and he kept rubbing against the panels.

Judging by the picture I would have to say that he is probably german.

Yes, Bicolor - had to get a bicolor gene from one parent, another bicolor or black gene from the other.

Thanks!!! I love him, so smart and sweet. He is actually just about 7 months old in that picture, at 9 months now, he is close to 80 lbs (pretty filled out). Not sure how much bigger I should expect him to get since his mom was 75 and his dad was 90...the breeder did say his father had belgium bloodlines in him.

If anyone has any advice for the hormonal phase, that would be great. He just kind of peaked last night, and in addition to his efforts to take my mattress to bed, he was also making some sort of grunts and doing a little bit of wheezing - is that normal?

as far as i know about the hormonal ibulance is that you need to watch it.  as for the wheezing i believe that he might have asthma

Thanks! I love shepherds (or at least the ones I have met so far) - everyone keeps telling me to get him fixed, but I don't want to. I really want to stud him out eventually. I am partial to him but I think he should procreate because of his looks hahaha . Hopefully he continues to stay on the same growth pattern and he should be a pretty good breed standard. He hasn't been really aggressive at all, and usually waits until we leave the dog park until he goes to the bathroom (i would think he would be marking his territory all over the place if he was aggressive). Not sure, I am new to being a shepherd owner

It's another Monday for sure.

The dog should not be wheezing.
