Dire wolf was a wild animal, i don't think a dog breed so to speak...

There are those who say that the "blue poll" or "blue paul" is extinct, it was a line of pit bull primarily in the Scotland area, and no one can agree on the name, or why it was named what it was. They were pretty large for working bulldogs of that time, around 60 pounds, and were primarily blue slate color or fawn smut

ALso, some say the true English Black and Tan terrier is now extinct, while others say it became the manchester. However, the manchester has obvious whippet in it,so is perhaps not "pure".  However "pure" before 1900 is kinda dicey.

There are several hound breeds from continental Europe which are now extinct.

Dire Wolf was a species of wolf not a breed but sadly it is also extinct

Sadly? That is interesting. They'd just be hunted and shot at from a helicopter. Might as well bring back the saber-toothed tiger, too, now that is one cool cat.

Dang it Lauren, you took mine! And yes, they did have a sad life...their front legs were shorter than the rear, more suitable for turning the wheel.

Wonder if the Thai Hairless Boran Dog was a predeccesor to the Thai Ridgeback?
