It made me think, would you be willing to sell your dog???
(I have been asked by people if they could purchase my dogs. Which although presumably a compliment - like offering my husband a camel to buy me!!! It did however make me feel very angry that I should even be willing to consider such a suggestion)!!! The answer obviously being a very firm and clear NO!
However, not sure if my husband would turn down a camel for me!! YIKES!

I'm not oppposed someday, if I have a retired female and someone wants to pamper her in her twilight years and offer her more time than I can give, and it's someone I know and trust, sure, I'd consider it. Or, if I had a young dog I grew out and am not completely sure about and I had a very promising pup on the ground I really wanted to keep, and the person offering would be perfect for the older pup, again, I'd consider it.
I think a lot of breeders have dogs they would sell under the right circumstances, but also have dogs that are special and can never be sold. All of my dogs live in my home and are special to me, but they are special enough that I won't hoard them if soemone is offering a great life.

I think due to our rough economy people are being forced to make decisions that they normally wouldn't do otherwise.
Although, I seen for a very long time that many breeders will spay their females and put them into a pet home.
I think that's okay as then they have a family and homelife where they can just be a pet.
