Lovely boy, lovely extension, front and rear, good angulation front & rear, I hope you realize the photo has been photochopped on his topline; beautiful balance and picture with ground covering gait; reminds me somewhat of Paul vom BaustaterHof (SP)??. Doesn't seem to be a lot of dogs that have a really clean sidegate. And he is probably going to get better and better as he is still young. Hope this helps Nanci

Hi Nanci, thanks for the critique. It really helps as i am still learning. VA9 Paul? He's a fantastic dog, haha i think this male, Waiko, needs more work to catch up to Paul's form. In fact, this is my male that i imported from Germany last year and he was SG 54. I have been training him, nice dog to work with. One thing i need to seek for advice, he LOVES to pace, while walking. Well i know there's nothing wrong pacing while walking, but of course it would look much better if he trot while walking. By walking i mean fast walking. I know i need to speed up then he will trot, but normally, in the show ring, the judge requires more walking and i think it's quite hard to correct his pacing habit.

So are you talking about lullygagging down the street in the walk with Mom or just a quiet gate: Make sure you have the choke chain right under his ears; slightly lift up a bit on his choke and take off, don't hesitate when you take off; you can also go in a quick small circle and take off without hesitating when you take off; pop his choke up a bit and take off pretty fast; then you can slow down if needed; see if that does not help. It's an old show dog trick and you can actually lift the front feet off the ground if need be but learn to do is smoothly and fast. Does not give him time to pace or even think about pacing; also get him used to different speeds, walk, trot and run commands or lope or whatever you want to use so he knows what you are asking. They all need to know how to pace as it is like a horse changing leads but you don't want it for the show ring. Sometimes it is a matter of training him to stop pacing rather than letting continue on and on. Hope this helps. He's really a pretty boy, good luck with him. Nanci
