Hello,

This is my experience and preference with having imported females in whelp:

I prefer to import the female in the second week after her breeding.  First of all I feel it is important to let her be as relaxed as possible after her breeding in familiar surroundings after the breeding in order to maximize conception. Secondlyly, in my opinion it is easier for the female to handle the stresses of flying at the early stages of pregancy as opposed to being on a flight when she is 5 or 6 weeks pregnant and taking chances as to what possible afffects the flight can have on her and the pups.

I actually just imported my female Queen von Prevent (Sch 1) at the end of March two weeks after being bred to V Leon von der Staatsmacht (Sch3) and just confirmed at the Vet clinic this morning that she is pregnant.

Again, this is just my opinion and prefrence.  Hope this helps,

Regards,

If I send bitches in whelp to buyers, I send them after 4 weeks and before 6 weeks along, I think this is the time window that is best for the bitch.  She is far enough along that she probably won't reabsorb the pups and still has enough time to get used to her new surroundings and settle down before having them.  Of course, things can always happen but I have all positive experiences during this time, of course the bitch should have a good temperament without nerve issues, I think then it isn't a problem for them.

Yes of course, the female's nerve and temperament also plays a big part with how she handles the transportation. The 4 weeks would be my limit, but not my preference. I guess it comes down to what has worked for you.
